1] Luscious green, ripe, and ready to eat Florida grown avocados that I cut in large chunks and add to a yummy salad of mixed greens, always including my two favorite add-ins. . . arugula and chopped cilantro.
2] An oh-so-chic candle from a brand labeled Voluspa given to me by a fav cousin on the occasion of a recent birthday. The fragrance is called Suede Blanc and mmmm, it smells just as smooth and pure and creamy rich as it sounds. Thanks, cuz!
3] A new blend of tea I found just last week while enjoying lunch at the Windsor Tea Room in Mount Dora with a special birthday girl. The tea is called Cherry Cinnamon and I love it hot or cold; but mostly drinking it hot this chilly week. It’s ‘cheery‘ and refreshing and with that hint of cinnamon it’s simply a pleasure to sip.
4] The book I just finished, I Am Malala. I know what you’re thinking – I’m so late to the party on that one, right? But hey, if you’re one of the few that also haven’t read it yet don’t wait any longer. It’s such a treat to read a real life memoir and it’s also a bit of a travel narrative about Pakistan as lived and written by a young but oh-so-wise girl. She is simply amazing, and reading this you will most certainly become educated on a life that is so foreign to most of us that many don’t even believe it’s real. But it is, and she is, too, most definitely the real deal and gives a new meaning to the word BRAVE.So, why am I writing about some of the simple things that I love? Because recently I was an attendee at a session where the speaker began by asking us all to write down three things that we love. Things, not people. Say what? And as we shared some of the answers it was really revealing about those around us, strangers until we were all forced to share something personal that we were willing to use the word love with. Sounds simple enough, right?
Okay then, now it’s your turn. What are you currently loving on? Go ahead. I’m waiting.
Now my avocados don’t sound so silly, right?
The point is that whether it’s February or July or November, we all have some tiny new discoveries or things we fall into ‘current’ love with, and in order to really get to know someone it’s nice to be able to share just an item or two on your list. Also, when shared with the right people, this can also assure you of getting some decent gifts on your next birthday. Kind of makes you wonder why adults ever stop making and distributing their own Christmas list, right? Not that I want a stocking full of avocados but hey, now you know I do love me a good smelling candle and a lovely cup of tea. (FYI, decaffeinated, please.)
Oh, and one more thing is currently on my ‘love this’ list and it’s a quote I’ll share that might give you some insight as to where my idea was for this silly post:
“Writing is like driving at night. You never see further than your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.” [E.L. Doctorow]
So how about you? Now it’s your turn to take a minute to follow your headlight and write me a note about what you currently love. After all, it’s February!
I LOVE THIS post!! Such a good exercise to keep us young at heart and appreciating the “small things” in life 🙂
